The National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP)
is the only national representative and continuing assessment of what America’s students know and can do in various
subject areas. The assessment has been given since 1969 and is administered to representative samples of 4th, 8th,
and 12th grade students in every state in the nation.
State level results have been reported since 1990 and Georgia has participated in the reading assessments since 1992;
in mathematics since 1990; in science since 1996; and in writing beginning in 2003.
The most recent NAEP results for Georgia are included in the Report Card. The report includes:
- 2016-17 results for Reading
- 2016-17 results for Mathematics
State and national comparisons for these tests are reported under the National Tests section for all students.
State results are only available for grades 4 and 8 every other year.
